The Amazing Story of Christian the Lion

In 1969, two Australians, John Rendall and Anthony “Ace” Bourke purchased a lion cub from Harrod’s department store which they named Christian.  They cared for the cub until he grew too large for their apartment.  Christian was then reintroduced into the wild in Africa.

Two years later, after Christan had successfully adapted to his new life in the wild, John & Anthony travelled to Kenya to visit him.  They were discouraged from doing so – being told the animal was now wild and would not remember them – but that didn’t stop them.  What occurred was the most amazing reunion.

Pics from our tour of the Big Cat Rescue Sanctuary

PopCap Games

We toured the Big Cat Rescue Santuary in Tampa, Florida. This is a must-see attraction for all cat lovers. At the time of this writing, admission is $25 per person for an hour and a half walking tour. The big cats reside in “cat-a-tats”. Three feet out from each “cat-a-tat” stands a waist high fence. This is how close you are to the big cats! Most of them eagerly ran to the fence to greet the guide – you can tell how well loved and treated these animals are to the staff.

White Tigers – not a natural species in the wild

We’re in Florida (Gulf side) on vacation this week. Today, we’ll be touring the Big Cat Rescue Sanctuary in Tampa.

Did you know that the white tiger isn’t a breed but actually a genetic defect caused from inbreeding? Watch this video – it’ll really open your eyes about these beautiful creatures.
